OTTOMAN SILVER SIGNET RING WITH CALLIGRAPHY

Ca. AD 1700 - 1800 A silver signet ring with a slender hoop expanding into broad, angular shoulders supporting a tall, trumpet-shaped bezel with a circular face engraved with Arabic calligraphy. The bezel has a moulded rim encircled by a beaded band. The shoulders are engraved with stylised foliate motifs separated by diagonal grooves, tapering towards the plain rear of the hoop.
