Pair of armchairs with caryatids, European school, 19th century

Descriptio Carved oak and upholstery. Dimensions: 135 x 79 x 65 cm. Pair of high-backed armchairs with profuse ornamental carving, topped with scrolls and mascarons, and arms supported by sculpted female caryatids. The claw-shaped front legs and the undulating decoration of the skirt reinforce their historicist and theatrical character. The set reflects the eclectic taste of the 19th century for reinterpreting Baroque and Renaissance models with great decorative effect. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
