The team at Dawsons has found jewellery and watches to be ever growing collecting categories, proving consistently popular among buyers and collectors. Capitalising on this, the UK auction house is hosting a Fine Jewellery, Silver and Watches sale on 15 April, replete with 500 lots of beautiful antique, vintage and modern jewellery.

Included within the sale is a consignment from a local estate, which includes an exquisite selection of antique pieces. The owner had travelled extensively across the globe and collected rare and beautiful gems on her way.
What’s more appropriate for April than a diamond, the month’s birthstone? This butterfly brooch is set with rubies, sapphires and old-cut diamonds. From the late 19th/early 20th century, it features a removable pin with a yellow and white metal mount.

Another impressive piece from the same collection is this solitaire diamond ring of I/J clarity, VS, and approx. 5 carats: a magnificent piece bound to attract a great deal of interest. Diamonds of this size are very rare at auction. It comes in an eight-claw setting in white gold mount, size M 1/2.

Staying with the theme of rare and impressive diamonds is this pair of old European-cut solitaire diamond earrings. Old-cut diamonds are more and more collectable these days, with plenty of bidders seeing their beauty in new light after many years of choosing the more modern round, brilliant cut. This pair of earrings, the diamond in excess of 6 carats combined, has a wonderful sparkle. They feature a silver-claw pendant set on yellow metal mounts.

From the silver department of the sale is this beautiful pair of silver pheasants by William Comyns & Sons Ltd, dating from 1966. A rather splendid and eye-catching pair, they’ll be sure to find a new home at the auction.

Perfect for the watch enthusiasts is this 1973 Omega Speedmaster chronograph wristwatch. It features black dial with two subsidiary dials and date aperture, with luminous hands and indices, tachymeter bezel, in a large stainless steel two-piece case with integrated bracelet.
The Speedmaster 125 was produced in 1973 to mark the 125th anniversary of Omega.

And for the woman who may think she has everything, we suggest you take a look at this impressive 9ct yellow gold evening bag. This is a wonderful vintage piece with gold chain mesh, the mount with ornate engraving and a ring to hold it by. It is elegant and sophisticated, the perfect accessory on that much-looked forward to night out this summer.
