Gearing Up for Community College

Props and costumes from US sitcom and cult hit 'Community' are going under the hammer.

12 February 2019
Gearing Up for Community College

The US sitcom Community, created by Dan Harmon, was a cult hit for five seasons on NBC as well as another year on Yahoo. The show stars actors such as Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Ken Jeong, Donald Glover, Chevy Chase, and many more, and now items from the show are available for purchase at Prop Store.

The premise of the show, which aired more than 110 episodes, revolves around Jeff Winger (Joel McHale) as a suspended lawyer (after it comes out that he faked his Bachelor’s Degree) forced to enrol in a community college. In an attempt to get with a student in his Spanish class, he forms a Spanish study group. To his surprise, more people attend the study group and the group of misfits form an unlikely community.

This paper and brass name plaque is from S1E24, ‘English as a Second Language’, as used on the door of Ben Chang’s (Ken Jeong) office.

Troy Barnes’ (Donald Glover) Backpack and Books

Donald Glover has accumulated many fans around the globe – not only for his acting but also for his hit songs, where he performs under the name Childish Gambino.

For those who count themselves among Childish Gambino’s eager fans, now’s the chance to own a backpack worn throughout the show by Donald Glover’s character Troy Barnes. The backpack is Jansport in a burgundy colour and also comes with the character’s books.

Craig Pelton’s (Jim Rash) Human Beings Framed Print

Community was ‘home of the human being’, as outlined by Dean Craig Pelton (Jim Rash), who had his framed Human Beings print on the wall of his office, as seen throughout numerous episodes.

Finally, what says Community and what says college better than patches?:

Toby (Robert Tarpinian) wore his pizza patch as part of his pizza delivery costume in S3E03, Britta (Gillian Jacobs) planned on pranking Señor Chang by putting a frog on his desk with a mini sombrero on its head in S1E20, members of the City College Debate Team wore jackets with City College patches in S1E09, and the study group wore their Finger Association patches at the height of their chicken influence in S1E21.
