From now until 27 March, Prop Store is hosting a sale of costumes, accessories, props and set dressing from the 2018 fantasy powerhouse The House with a Clock in Its Walls. The film, starring Jack Black, Cate Blanchett and Kyle MacLachlan, is chock-full of unusual and intriguing esoterica that is ideal for eye-catching décor.
A perfectly pocket-sized memento, this coin is stamped with an eclipse pattern that is seen throughout the film. The central design is an ouroboros, or serpent eating its own tail, an ancient symbol of wholeness or infinity.
An evil addition to any bookshelf, this worn-looking necromancy book played a key part in the film as it contained the secrets of bringing the dead back to life. The skeletal hand embedded in the cover rotates, and it has over 100 pages and illustrations.
Styled like a vintage advertisement, this poster features the evil warlock Isaac Izard, played by Kyle MacLachlan, along with three demons. Framed and ready to hang, it is a lovely and subtle homage to the film.
Jonathan Barnavelt (Jack Black) has a room filled with automatrons that at times are a little more life-like than they should be. This specimen is complete with working levers that control the arms and legs, making it an entertaining and offbeat centerpiece.
This costume belonged to the feisty witch Florence Zimmerman, played by Cate Blanchett. She appears in purple throughout the movie, and this head-to-toe ensemble showcases her signature colour as envisioned by the award-winning costume designer Marlene Stewart.
Another perfect piece to subtly show off an appreciation for the film, this poster depicts the magician Laurant set off by a genie coming out of a lamp. Used as set-dressing in Jonathan Barnavelt’s home, it’s ideal for adding vintage style to any room.
