Brunk Auctions' upcoming Summer Premier Auction from 15-16 July will feature over 700 lots of American, Southern and European furniture, fine and decorative arts, sporting art, southern pottery, perfume and textile collections, coins, classic firearms, and self-taught and southern folk art sold to benefit the American Folk Art Museum.
Highlighting the July sale will be a rare Dave Drake Edgefield Jug from 1852. The one-handled jug has gorgeous light olive green runs down the side and stands 14 ½ inches tall. A similar jug by Dave sold for $369,000 in 2020. Additional exceptional pieces of wood-fired pottery from Southern collectors will be included in the auction by Burlon Craig, Mark Hewitt, Wayne Hewell and the Meaders.

American furniture collectors will be looking forward to furniture from the collection of C.L. Prickett, including a rare Pennsylvania Chippendale dressing table, a fine American Chippendale mahogany blockfront desk and a New England Queen Anne cherry high chest of drawers. A MESDA-documented John Swisegood North Carolina chest is a collector’s dream.

After the successful May auction, property of the American Folk Art Museum will continue to be sold in the July auction with works of art by Mose Tolliver, Harry Mona Fonesca, Butch Anthony; vintage trade signs and Shaker hooked rugs. Fine art highlights include modern serigraphs by Erté including the full Alphabet Portfolio; property deaccessioned by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, including a School of Sir Godfrey Kneller painting; and iconic black and white photographs by Life Magazine photographer, Alfred Eisenstaedt.

A pristine selection of fine perfume bottles from the Collection of Joe and Janice Boyd featuring Steuben, Baccarat, Galle, Lampe Berger, and Thomas Webb Cameo designs will be auctioned throughout the sale. The Boyds started their collection over 20 years ago and their collection consists of over eight hundred bottles, burners, and related items.

Southeast Asian textiles from the collection of Dr. Allen Grimes will capture the eyes of collectors. Starting with his first trip to Indonesia in 1967, Dr. Grimes has been collecting masks, carvings, and other objects representing various cultures for over fifty years.
