The elegance, simplicity and high craftsmanship of Scandinavian style have attracted collectors for decades. Now, this autumn, you can refresh your home with a selection of iconic pieces: Scandinavian design is in the spotlight at this upcoming 14 October auction at PIASA in Paris. Over 300 lots from the leading designers, such as Hans Wegner, Finn Juhl, Axel Einar Hjorth, Josef Frank and Paavo Tynell, will be featured in this exciting sale.
Here are the highlights of the auction:

Hans Wegner's classic Ekollon cabinet is one of the top lots of the sale. In the 1940s, Wegner created different pieces of furniture decorated with oak patterns. One of these patterns shows an acorn and is used as decoration on cabinets of varying sizes. This pattern created by Wegner with teak intarsia is produced by Mikael Laursen, cabinetmaker.

Paavo Tynell's chandeliers and lamps are beloved for their whimsical, nature-inspired style and have illuminated spaces all over the world, from the United Nations in New York to the Parliament House in Finland. The Scandinavian lighting master designed slim lamps that were both lightweight and decorative, emblematic of mid-century modern. This ceiling lamp, Model 9065, is made of brass and perforated brass, and is surrounded by hanging snowflakes.

This beautiful cabinet is attributed to Otto Schulz, the German-Swedish designer who enjoyed mixing Baroque and modern styles in his furniture. His appreciation for craftsmanship in observed in this sturdy, symmetrical work upholstered in leather and embellished in brass with fine wood legs. It dates to 1942.

Finn Juhl's famous Judas table from 1950 is named because of the 30 silver pieces embedded in the tabletop. In the Gospels, Judas betrayed Jesus to the high priests of Jerusalem for 30 pieces of silver, but after Jesus is taken he tries to return the money in a fit of regret. The sleek table is made of oakwood and teak and can be extended to fit more people.
