The sale is split with 25 March segmented according to wines of Tuscany, the rest of Italy, Bordeaux, Burgundy champagne, French and international wines, and 26 March dedicated to spirits.

5. Burgundy Domaine de La Romanée Conti

This Burgundy champagne Domaine de La Romanée Conti, Romanée Conti from 1967 is bottle number 129 of 7220 produced. It’s the most expensive bottle in the auction, with an estimate of €20,000-30,000 (£17,100-25,700).
4. Bordeaux Château Lafite Rothschild

Another top lot in the sale is a bottle of Bordeaux Château Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac. With an estimate of €7,000-10,000 (£6,000-8,500), it is the second most expensive bottle in the auction, and is from the year 2000.
3. Krug, Champagne Collection

Noteworthy among the numerous French wines in the catalogue is the rare Krug, Champagne Collection (estimated at €2,350-4,000 pr £2,000-3,400).
Special mention should also be made regarding Italian wines. Among the important bottles on offer, numerous bottles by Gianfranco Soldera, Tenuta dell’Ornellaia and Tenuta Masseto stand out.
2. Macallan, Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky Anniversary 25 years old

Among the portion of the sale dedicated to rare spirits are Macallan, Single Highland Malt Scotch Whiskies, bottled from the distillery’s rare twenty-fifth anniversary.
Rarer cognacs and armagnacs of the late 19th century are also peppered amongst the sale.
1. Ritz Special, Cognac Grande Fine Champagne

What better way to complete this curated selection than a bottle embodying French luxury? This Fine Grande Champagne cognac from 1865 comes from the famous Ritz hotel in Paris. The hotel has always been famous for having its own stock of cognac, which was only served to the most esteemed guests. These cognacs have never been marketed and still symbolise the refinement of the establishment today.
The 1830 vintage is still used to make one of the most expensive cocktails in the world, the Ritz Sidecar, while the Ritz Special 1812 was only sold by the glass and only the most prestigious guests were allowed, as an exception, to purchase a whole bottle.
