Famous American filmmakers, the Coen Brothers, first premiered The Ballad of Buster Scruggs at the Venice International Film Festival in 2018 and it was released on Netflix later that year. The comedy-drama movie, which is set in the post-Civil War era in the American West, is divided into individual vignettes and was nominated for three awards at the 2019 Golden Globes: Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Costume Design and Best Original Song.
Now, through till 24 January, Prop Store is selling 48 lots from the movie, from iconic costumes to western props. Here are some of the highlights:
The eponymous Buster Scruggs (portrayed by Tim Blake Nelson) wears a classic cowboy outfit in the first vignette of the film. The costume consists of a felt cowboy hat, cotton shirt, corduroy pants, leather boots and a silk ascot.
The Cowboy (played by James Franco) wore his brown trench coat and cowboy duds throughout his chapter, Near Algodones. The outfit includes a felt and leather hat, cotton bandana, canvas coat, leather and cotton vest, cotton shirt, wool and cotton pants, and leather shoes.
This miniature Longabaugh wagon was made by production for pre-production as a representation of what would be in the final cut. It measures 53.5 cm x 18 cm x 28 cm and is made of wood, canvas, and metal.
Alice Longabaugh (portrayed by Zoe Kazan) wore her plaid dress when she met with Billy Knapp (Bill Heck) to discuss how to pay Matt (Ethan Dubin); and again several times throughout the chapter The Gal Who Got Rattled. The lot includes the cotton blend dress and leather suitcase.
The Impresario (portrayed by Liam Neeson) wore his warm clothes throughout his chapter, though most of these components were seen when he hired a courtesan. This outfit includes a cotton and linen vest, cotton and linen shirt, wool pants, wool scarf, wool gloves, a coat made of fur pelts, and a felt hat marked for Liam Neeson.
The Native American Chief (Rod Rondeaux) wore these leather chaps and shirt when engaged in a battle with Mr Arthur (Grainger Hines). It includes a leather, animal hair and taxidermy top, leather and animal hair chaps, a leather and cotton loin cloth, and leather shoes.
