This set of 12 chairs is signed by Thomas Day, a cabinetmaker active in Caswell County, North Carolina. Born free in Virginia, Day was one of the few black artisans who earned the respect of his white contemporaries at the time. With his virtuoso know-how and business acumen, he moved to Milton in 1817 and set up a successful business, a workshop that would become the largest and most productive in the 1850s. The set of chairs would have been commissioned for Governor David S. Reid while he was in power, and features typical elements of Day's work, such as the backrest and curved feet.

This very fine Rowan county North Carolina chest dates to the early 19th century and is made of solid walnut. This timeless piece displays fine craftsmanship and quality and is in impeccable condition for being over 200 years old.

An object of historical and scientific collection, this Stock Ticker Telegraph was designed by Thomas Edison from the early 20th century. The Stock Ticker is a refinement of the electromechanical telegraph that was born in 1867 in the United States. This revolutionary object made it possible to automatically transmit a large quantity of stock prices remotely, which were then printed on a narrow strip of paper.

Beautiful traditional ceramics will be presented, as well as several remarkable Emile Gallé vases of the early 20th century from the collection of Joseph Durham. One of the models is finely decorated with red vine leaves on a yellow background, another in brown tones has the landscape of a lake.

In silverware, there is a beautiful Tiffany & Co bowl from the late 19th century in sterling silver. The object is decorated with an Olympic frieze on the upper part, depicting distinguished several figures of men, women and children in dense vegetation.

For art lovers, this beautiful painting titled The Old Red Mill by William Jurian Kaula will be up for bids. Active in the first half of the 20th century, Kaula was best known for his landscape works that became more and more Impressionist, as he was part of the Boston School under the tutelage of famed American Impressionist Edmund Tarbell. He was based in Massachusetts, but exhibited at the Paris Salon and the Pan-Pacific Exposition in San Francisco.
Other pieces of antique furniture, works of decorative arts and collectibles will look for takers on 6 December.
