Following its highly acclaimed relaunch last September, the famous Chelsea Antiques & Fine Art Fair returns to the Old Town Hall from 23- 27 March. A visit to the King’s Road venue is already in the diary for many connoisseurs and collectors eagerly looking forward to seeing a treasure trove of rare and unique exhibits belonging to leading dealers from across the country.

Sophie Wood, the Fair Director at 2Covet, explains: “We are very excited to be presenting the Fair in its traditional spring slot. With its new bold and stylish format our relaunch event last year was extremely well received and now our exhibitors are returning to provide another sumptuous selection of the finest pieces available on the art market today.”

There will be many highlights across the entire range of art and antiques. A superb Anglo Indian tea chest priced at £22,000 with Mark Goodger Antiques is one of the finest of its kind to be found anywhere in the world. Among the most collectable pieces is Lady Hamilton’s keepsake ‘orange blossom’ box for her wedding flowers from circa 1795 with a full history. This unique item of Nelson memorabilia belongs to Wick Antiques and has a ticket price of £6,600.

Art collectors have more choice than ever at the Spring fair. The ever-popular Modern British painter Mary Fedden RA features in a self-portrait with her cat on the stand on Kaye Michie Fine Art while newcomer exhibitor, John Robertson, shows a superb etching by the highly accomplished etcher Stanley Anderson RA, depicting a violin maker engaged in his craft. Dating from 1948, this rare item is on sale for £1,100.

A rare and exceptional George III Rococo revival coffee pot made in Dublin in 1774 by Matthew West that once belonged to the international socialites the Count & Countess Martignone from Milan features on the stand of silver specialists Mary Cooke Antiques.
A number of leading dealers join the fair, notably picture specialists Haynes Fine Art from the Cotswolds; Howards Jewellers from Stratford-upon-Avon, London silver dealers J.H.Bourdon-Smith and Hickmet Fine Art specialising in Art Nouveau and Art Deco sculpture and glass.
There is so much more: fine silver, jewellery, vintage watches, pottery, porcelain, sculpture, fine glass, traditional eighteenth- and nineteenth-century paintings, Art Nouveau and Art Deco, twentieth-century Studio ceramics and all kinds of objets d’art.

The Chelsea Antiques & Fine Art Fair first opened its doors to collectors and connoisseurs in 1950. Since then, it has welcomed collectors from across the world. Among its many visitors and opening day VIPs have been leading figures from society, stage and screen, including Lord Snowdon, Patrick Lichfield, Margaret Thatcher, Sir Cecil Beaton, Rt Hon Sir Edward Heath, Elaine Paige, Leslie Phillips, Esther Rantzen, Robert Vaughan, Larry Hagman, Ernest Borgnine, Charlie Watts and many more.
The fair has for many years maintained strong links with a variety of charities and this spring, once again, the fair will be supporting The Edward Guinness Appeal in aid of Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for the disabled.
