Danish auction house Bruun Rasmussen is hosting a selection of Design auctions this month, with furniture, lamps, rugs, ceramics, decorative arts, silver, books and more on offer. Here are three leading design picks from the sale.
Finn Juhl, ‘FJ 45’ pair of armchairs

The ‘FJ 45’ chair is one of the most beloved designs from Finn Juhl. Presented as early as 1945, in many ways it came to define how a mid-century armchair should be. The chair became one of the biggest commercial successes for cabinetmaker Niels Vodder, and was produced by him until the 1970s.
This present pair is upholstered in light blue wool. They were made in the beginning of the 1960s by Vodder and were a wedding present for the present owner’s parents in 1962. They were then passed by descent in the family. They are included as part of the ‘Design: Silver, ceramics, furniture, lamps and carpets’ auction on 11 March.
George III mahogany silver table

From the collection of the late civil engineer Mr H Steen Christensen at Sømandshvile, Rungsted, and then later owned by manufacturer Mr Carl Oppen, is this George III mahogany silver table in Chinese Chippendale style. It is pierced overall with fretwork, has a rectangular top over a deep frieze, and square legs.
The table is from England, c. 1770, and is included in the ‘Design: Paintings, furniture, carpets, decorative arts and books’ auction on 8 March.
Johan Rohde, sterling silver cutlery

An exquisite example of sterling silver cutlery, this ‘Acorn/Kongemønster’ set was designed by Johan Rohde in 1915.
The set, excluding pieces with steel, weighs 5412 g. It comprises 6 soup spoons, 19 dinner forks, 12 dinner spoons, 12 luncheon knives with long handle, 10 luncheon knives with short handle, 20 luncheon forks, 18 dessert spoons, 24 pastry forks, 23 coffee spoons, 2 fruit knives, 3 short cold cuts forks, 2 small servers with steel L. 16.2 cm, 1 serving spoon L. 24 cm, 2 butter knives, 1 serving spoon with steel L. 23.5 cm., 1 serving spoon L. 20.2 cm., 1 fried egg server, 1 pie knife, 2 herring forks, 1 egg spoon, 1 sugar spoon, 1 bottle opener with short handle, 1 compote spoon, 1 jam spoon, 4 grapefruit spoons, 1 steak fork, and 2 salt spoons. The set forms part of the ‘Design: Silver, ceramics, furniture, lamps and carpets’ auction on 11 March.
