The idiom ‘save it for a rainy day’ – to put something aside for future use – is often used in casual conversation. For this sale however, we really do mean it: passionate and enthusiastic collectors of toys and memorabilia will want their pennies for this one.
Prop Store’s ‘Vintage Toys & Collectibles’ auction is filled with production toys, pre-production items, international collectibles, store displays, marketing materials, bootlegs, posters, press kits, cast and crew items, and much, much more. These high quality items range in price, size, date and franchise: from Star Wars to Star Trek, Spider-Man, GI Joe and more.
The sale is being held on 28 February and 1 March, and it promises to delight all vintage toy collectors and fans. Let’s take a look.

This 1980 square cardback Meccano from Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back is of Boba Fett.
The 18 Back is a Micro-Meccano French produced cardback action figure and is punched. The lot is an exceedingly rare European release which also includes a blaster. The AFA case includes added bubble protection rails.
Dimensions are 20 x 20 x 5 cm.

Another Star Wars meccano measuring 20 x 20 x 5 cm, this 1978 Kenner toy is among the most sought-after action figures ever made from the film franchise.
The earliest version of the Jawa was changed due to customer backlash: parents were angered by the fact that it was half the size of a normal figure, yet sold for the same price. Eventually, the change to a cloth cape added enough perceived value for parents and it also garnered a more ‘movie-accurate’ look for children.
This particular lot, from the Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, features an unpunched cardback and it is sealed in an archival acrylic case.

Stepping away from the sealed action figures to the plush range, this Chewbacca plush quality-control prototype and production toy is an original which features a hand-written decal that reads ‘CORRECT LABEL | NSQ01705 FOR 11,000 PCS’, in reference to the plastic fastener used to attach the tag to the toy.
From Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, this QC piece notes that the rectangular label is in the correct position and also appears to indicate that the original circular tag was used on 11,000 pieces.
Standing at 50 x 30 x 7.5 cm, this figure is the height of the Canadian release and is noticeably taller than the Kenner production version.

From the Star Wars franchise to the Indiana Jones series, this 1984 LJN handmade action figure is the original wax sculpting for Mola Ram.
Due to disappointing sales, Kenner didn’t renew their license after Raiders of the Lost Ark. When it came to Temple of Doom (as pictured here), LJN took the helm and planned a small line of five figures, though only three were produced: Indiana Jones, Mola Ram, and Giant Thugee.
This figure of Mola Ram is hand-sculptured in an opaque green wax. The individual parts are attached with metal pins, typical for an articulated figure. The one-of-a-kind, handmade piece is the basis for every production figure in existence. It measures 37.5 x 32.5 x 25 cm and includes COA from Collectible Investment Brokerage, dated 20 June 2018.

Prop Store’s Vintage Toys & Collectibles catalogue includes over 750 items. If you consider yourself a seasoned collector or vintage toy enthusiast, we suggest you take a look while you can!
