When Helander Auktioner holds their hammer auction on 12 May, hundreds of items will be offered. In the catalogue you will find Art Nouveau furniture, modern art and colourful textiles, along with many other unique treasures. Here are three highlights you do not want to miss!
TON, four chairs, Model 56

Did you know that it was the German designer Michael Thonet who came up with the idea of shipping furniture in flat packages? It was not until the 1950s that IKEA began to do the same. Thonet is considered a pioneer in industrial design and developed, among other things, the technology for bentwood furniture. Now you have the chance to own a set of his Model 56 café chairs in model 56, which were designed in 1885.
Yki Nummi, Lokki ceiling lamp, 1960s

The ceiling lamp Lokki, which means “gull”, is a Finnish design classic and one of Yki Nummi's most famous works. Nummi was a Finnish interior designer and one of Scandinavia's foremost luminaire designers during the 1950s and 1970s. He was also one of the first in Finland to use acrylic as a material for light fixtures.
Göran Augustson, Ikkuna Eurooppaan, 1991

The Finnish painter and illustrator Göran Augustson devoted himself to abstract art. His oil paintings and serigraphs are characterised by rhythmically undulating shapes and clear, delimiting colour fields. In the catalogue, Auguston is represented by three works, including the pictured Ikkuna Eurooppaan from 1991.
