On 31 August, Cumbria-based PFK Auctioneers & Valuers is hosting The Farewell Sale, an auction rife with all sorts of intriguing and unusual finds. We’ve rounded up our seven favourites from their catalogue:
7. 1960s child’s pedal tractor
With its yellow-painted trailer, green seat and red body, this 1960s Tri-ang/Triang child’s pedal tractor is an adorable addition to any family home – not to mention its vintage and unrestored look holds extra appeal. Sure to bring a smile to any little one during playtime, this is certainly one of PFK’s most charming lots.
6. Moet & Chandon ‘Cuvee Dom Perignon’

One for the adults, this 1993 vintage champagne is a 70cl bottle of Moet & Chandon ‘Cuvee Dom Perignon’. Contained in an unopened box, it’s the perfect gift for any lucky loved one should the occasion present itself – or, perhaps, simply for yourself.
5. Arts & Crafts oak sideboard

A piece by Hummerston Brothers, Leeds is this Arts & Crafts oak mirror-backed sideboard: both practical and a statement. The back has a moulded surmount over three bevelled mirror plates, the shallow shelf has turned supports, and the top is rectangular in cut. The two central drawers have locks (which bear the name ‘Samual Hall Birmingham’ with ‘dog kennel’ below, flaked by foliate carved panelled doors), and come on turned feet. Overall it measures 161.5 x 183 x 62 cm.
4. Mid-century Danish dining table by Sorø Stolefabrik

Mid-century design has made quite the comeback – and remains a staple among design lovers and experts.
This mid-century Danish teak extended table by Sorø Stolefabrik extends with three additional leaves and with hinged drop-down central legs. When paired with a set of mid-century dining chairs, the table would surely make the perfect design addition to any family kitchen. Measures 72 x 265 (extended) x 106 cm.
3. Edwardian oak secretaire bookcase
Another exemplary piece of carving is this Edwardian oak secretaire bookcase. It features a moulded cornice above two glazed doors, which enclose the internal shelves. The lower stage is moulded with a rectangular top above a secretaire drawer with brass button release, which opens to reveal the small central drawer and arrangement of pigeon holes. All of this is above three graduation central drawers, flanked by panel doors, on a deep plinth base. Measures 216 x 122 x 50 cm.
2. Norwegian butterfly brooch
A wearable work of art, this small Norwegian sterling silver and enamel butterfly brooch with matching earrings are by Hroar Prydz. The beautiful set is in blue and purple and comes with the fine details – the dots and veins – all too familiar to what is perhaps the world’s favourite insect.
1. Steinway & Sons grand piano

Many hoped to take up a musical instrument during the coronavirus lockdown, and now there’s no excuse.
Our final favourite from PFK’s selection is this Steinway & Sons model ‘A’ ebonised grand piano. The c. 1930 instrument has a serial number of A 283164, also marked A4 23 8 1392 U, 184cm.
As a reminder, these seven items – and many more – are hitting the auction block on 31 August.
